Signature Campaign Launched Urging Fair Judicial Process for Suresh Sallay

A special public gathering has been organized in Colombo calling for justice and fairness for Major General Suresh Sallay, amid what organizers describe as unfounded allegations made by certain foreign media outlets and external groups.

The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 20 August 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI), Colombo 07.

According to organizers, the highlight of the gathering will be a public petition urging the President to ensure a fair, transparent, and impartial judicial process for Major General Sallay. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign the petition, which will later be formally handed over to the President.

Organizers say the initiative aims to rally citizens in support of “truth and justice” for a military officer who, they emphasize, has dedicated his service to the nation. They have extended an open invitation to people across the country to participate in the event and stand in solidarity.

“This is a moment for all Sri Lankans to come forward and defend justice for a war hero who served the country with commitment,” the organizing committee stated.
