Colombo — Serious allegations have emerged claiming that the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), Ranga Dissanayake, has instructed officials to take steps to remand Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Namal Rajapaksa ahead of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s upcoming nationwide rallies.
According to political sources, the directive was reportedly issued during a discussion held in Pelawatte, where it was suggested that remanding Rajapaksa would provide President Dissanayake with a significant propaganda advantage as he prepares to launch a series of public meetings from the 5th in support of the Surasena Protection Amendment.
The political correspondent who revealed the information claims that CIABOC officials were instructed to “find a way” to link Rajapaksa to a case that could justify remand action.
Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa is currently leading a series of SLPP local government–level meetings across the country, drawing large crowds. The strong public turnout has reportedly unsettled JVP cadres in Pelawatte, who fear the momentum could undermine the President’s upcoming campaign.
Neither CIABOC nor representatives of the involved political parties have officially commented on the allegations at the time of reporting.
